Telligman receives VU Foundation’s Dorothy Walters Memorial Scholarship

VINCENNES, Ind. - The Dorothy M. Walters Memorial Scholarship Committee of the VincennesUniversity Foundation has announced that Elsa Telligman, of Carlisle, is the scholarship recipient for the 2021-22 academic year.

VU Foundation announces Bierhaus Doorway Scholarship recipient

VINCENNES, Ind. - The Bierhaus Doorway Scholarship Committee of the Vincennes University Foundation has announced Emilee Hall, of Bicknell, as the recipient of its William M. Bierhaus Doorway Scholarship for the 2021-2022 academic year.

VINCENNES, Ind. - The Vincennes University Foundation has announced the recipients of the Oscar L. Dunn Memorial Scholarship for the 2021-22 academic year. The recipients are Blaine Tabler, Olivia Kroeger, and Quentin Seger, all of Vincennes.

When Jon Myers arrived on Vincennes University’s main campus in 1992, he thought, as a Construction Technology major, that he was preparing for a career in building trades.

But Myers soon learned something important about himself as a VU student – and it was a lesson that would change the course of his life.

Award Named After Aviation Trailblazer Frank O'Neal

The Vincennes University Aviation program has announced a new award for an outstanding first-year aviation flight or maintenance student. The first Frank O'Neal Aviation Trailblazer Award  will be presented in Spring 2022 and include a scholarship award. Guest Contributor and VU alumnus David Goodnow (VU '59) shares the history of pioneer Frank O'Neal. 

Business Owner Shaquille Goines: "VU taught me to ask questions and to reach out for help"

Shaquille Goines' love for fashion developed early in life. Growing up, he paid special attention not only to how his clothes and shoeslooked but to what others wore as well. 

In 2018, two years after graduating from Vincennes University with a degree in sports management, Goines turned his passion into a career when he opened PLE Fashion in Evansville. Goines said his time on the Vincennes Campus prepared him well for the challenges of owning and operating a small business.

Gene and Patricia Bathe Memorial Scholarship

VINCENNES,Ind - The Vincennes University Foundation is delighted to announce the Gene and Patricia Bathe endowed scholarship for full-time VU students.

The Gene and Patricia Bathe Scholarship is a tribute to their commitment to higher education, Vincennes University, and to future generations of students in the city they loved. Gene moved to Vincennes in grade school, while Patricia moved to Vincennes after graduating High School.

Gregory McMichael Mechanical Engineering and Aviation Memorial Scholarships

The Vincennes University Foundation in conjunction with the family of Gregory McMichael has established two new scholarships. The Gregory McMichael Aviation Memorial Scholarship and the Gregory McMichael Mechanical Engineering Memorial Scholarship will help students facing economic barriers to pursuing their degree in one of these programs. The Aviation Memorial Scholarship will benefit students at the Aviation Technology Center (ATC) in Indianapolis. The Mechanical Engineering Scholarship will assist students on the Vincennes Campus.

Indiana State Poultry Association Scholarship to Assist VU Agriculture Students

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Foundation is pleased to announce the formation of the Indiana State Poultry Association Scholarship to benefit students enrolled in Vincennes University Agriculture Studies. The Indiana State Poultry Association (ISPA) Scholarship is being established for students pursing a degree in agriculture studies with the intent of a career in the poultry industry. “Indiana’s poultry industry is growing and vibrant. We are constantly seeking ambitious individuals wanting to play a role in feeding America and feeding the world,” stated Paul Wm. Brennan, President of the ISPA. “When the poultry industry looks for our future leaders, we look for those who have invested time in education. The Indiana State Poultry Association is pleased to take this opportunity to invest in Vincennes University to provide support for those individuals.” The scholarship is open to full-time Agriculture Studies majors at either the Vincennes or Jasper Campus. The recipient should be a first- or second-year student with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, as well as maintaining a 3.0 during the scholarship period. Treanor Memorial Scholarship to assist future nurses

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Foundation is pleased to announce the formation of the Shelia J. Treanor Memorial Scholarship to benefit Vincennes University nursing students. The Sheila J. (O’Donnell) Treanor Memorial Scholarship is being established by her children, Laura, Karen, Diane, Richard, Shelia, Julie, and Cathleen in loving memory of their mother who graduated from nursing school and practiced as a nurse prior to marrying. After raising a family, she returned to college as a non-traditional student to take Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) courses. Her children state, “This scholarship is an opportunity to pay tribute to our mother for the wisdom, guidance and motivation she provided to each of us. She was a source of constant and endearing love and support and she challenged each of us to strive for excellence in all that we undertook. Her expectation was that we should endeavor to reach the fullest measure of our capabilities.”

Date Change

March 16, 2020 / The Vincennes University Foundation & Alumni Office announce two date changes for upcoming programs due to coronavirus concerns. The Alumni Community Series performance with Jeri Sager that was originally scheduled for April 17, 2020 has been rescheduled with a date TBA. All tickets sold for the original date will be honored for the rescheduled date. The VU Foundation 50th Annual Donor Appreciation Dinner that was originally scheduled for April 4, 2020 is now rescheduled for October 2, 2020. The dinner will be at Green Activities Center with a reception beginning at 6:00 p.m. (EST). followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. (EST). Please call the Vincennes Univeristy Foundation and Alumni Office for more information at 812.888.4354. Tickets are still available for both events. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
